A New Collage

It seems like such an uphill slog putting together a new website. I was very unhappy with the last host i had, a site where i had a well established presence for many years. Why did i leave? No more memory/storage space. I had reached the upper limit of image storage, was told there was no way to increase my storage, and further, there was no way to delete old image storage to create 'new'. Oh yes, than a triple price increase, insult to injury. So here i am.

Here is my newest collage. I'm still searching for the perfect title, unusual for me. Currently working with two titles, "Dialing into My First Dinner Plans", or, "Monitor for Food Safety". Maybe like Boaty McBoat Face i should conduct a vote. Suitable for the troubled political season.

As yet untitled

The piece is 11 x 14", mounted on painted board. Hand cut from early 1950's Progressive Farmer magazine, 1960's Practical Handyman's Encyclopedia, and Horizon magazine, an arts and culture magazine that was published from the mid-50's through the early 70's.

The juxtaposition of black and white imagery with color images has been a theme i work with for some time now. A couple of years ago i started playing around with dividing a single large image, usually a face (Divided Mind series), now playing with the idea of the divided background.

My intention is that these will not be matted or framed, rather that they will float in the manner of a painting on a wrapped canvas. Ideally they would be displayed in a floating plexiglass frame at most.

I will be slowly, and i do mean slowly, rebuilding my website here. Please check out my personal blog, LifeArtWater, and the companion blog The Floating Empire.

PS: It has rained here for 17 days straight, i will take a brighter picture when there is some sunshine, soon, i hope!
